Mothers are busy people. Whether working or stay at home, trying to fit everything into one day can sometimes be quite the juggling act. Looking after children and spouses, keeping a home running in an orderly manner and ensuring belly’s are fed and boo-boos are soothed. Often there is not enough time in the day left for them, let alone any time for exercise. Here are some tips to help mothers get some exercise time, no matter what the day is throwing at you.

Tip: Because exercising sometimes isn’t burning as much in the way of calories as a dieter would hope, they sometimes take exercising to extremes. This isn’t good because it can damage your muscles and joints.

Do not allow exercise to become an optional activity in your own mind. Make sure that you give it a priority status, one that is as important to you as making dinners or doing the laundry. When you make it an important part of your day, you are more likely to make time to attend to it.

Tip: Create a workout routine that your whole family can do. You and your family can alternate choosing what work out you will do.

Consider the times of day that are available to you to work out. Could you get up an hour earlier each morning, go and do your exercise while your partner watches the children and then it is done for the day? Or is it an option to go down to the gym after your children have gone to bed at night? Find a time of day that does suit you without eating into family time and stick to it.

Trade off baby sitting time so you can exercise when you need to and in return you take care of the children at another time so that they can attend to an activity that they enjoy. Ultimately it is up to you to find the time to exercise. An hour a day is optimal for body health and to find that hour sacrifices may have to be made in other areas. Do not feel guilty if anyone complains to you about the time you are taking away for yourself. It is important that your body runs at its peak performance so that you can easily deal with every dilemma, drama and distraction that each day will throw at you.
